and N1IV were very busy during the
Spring of 2001, designing
and building a portable crank up tower
trailer. The self contained 38 foot TriEx
tower is mounted on a trailer with 2
outriggers to stabilize the system when it is
deployed. One winch stands the tower up from
it's horizontal resting position to the
vertical working position and the other cranks
the tower up from 21 feet to 38 feet high. The system can be used for
Emergency Communications, Amateur Radio Demo outings,
and of course, Field Day and other club
events. The trailer was built to allow for
transporting the other club towers and
antennas to an event in one trip. There's a
toolbox mounted on the front with blocks for
leveling and can carry cables, rope, etc. If you
haven't seen the new unit, check it out the next chance you
get...
it's pretty impressive. Thanks to WB1DJM for
the use of his shop, equipment, time and
knowledge, and the donation of the trailer
itself, and to N1IV for the tower donation, parts and
welding. You can't beat team work! |
